Well, I need to vent... I made the mistake of purchasing a Dell laptop computer because I don't own a credit card and I could make monthly payments on it which works for me because I am basically the only contributor to anything needed in my household with 4 children. I knew I would end up paying 3 times what it was worth but beggars can't be choosers and it was the only way I would be able to get one. Well - biggest mistake I have ever made! The second day I had it I turned it on to a black screen and beeping. I called Dell right away and was told this does happen and they walked me through unplugging, removing the battery and resetting the system by holding the start button down. They did NOT tell me that this would be a minimum once a week occurrence... Well, I have been dealing with that about 2 years now. Recently my children's dad was "watching" the 2 little ones (I use this term loosely as his idea is sitting in front of the TV and ordering them around...) The youngest got into my laptop and chewed off the tops of several keys. I am missing 7 now. Well when I contacted Dell about getting a new keyboard, the only way to pay for it is with a credit card (I again do not own). So I contacted the customer service dept and they gave me 3 runaround responses and refered me to the parts where I could gladly purchase the part with my credit card. So needless to say - I am stuck with a piece of crap Dell with missing keys nobody can help me fix... sigh... So when I post and am missing d, n, m, or f keys, I am typing too fast and the little rubber under keys are sticking.... Sorry for the vent... I am also apologizing to anyone who is affiliated with them or loves theirs... This is just my own experience....
Thanks for letting me vent...

That stinks. Any Dell I have owned personally has always been good and we use them at work. I assume it isn't under warranty.
You mean your CHILD ate the keys? Hmmm....perhaps you should think about crating the child like you would a puppy when it chews (I'm kidding of course).
Good luck with your computer.
sorry to hear this.....I am in "want" of a new computer too...sigh....and sigh some more!
I hope you get another one soon! *~*
OMG- am I glad you vented!!!
I was seriously considering a laptop but, you just confirmed my concerns about this piece of equipment. My DIL had had nothing but problems with hers also. They have 5 kids and to say the least- no one is real careful with this PC. The connection on hers is terrible. Always loosing power with the main cord and if the top is pushed back at all out of place it takes a crapper!!! Hopefully- you can send your back.
Best of luck...
Kim
